Glass vase or bottle, base round bulb with straight neck with rounded lip. Two attached green paper labels, tied with string to neck of bottle. Written in Ink on the labels: 1st label: "Pompeian /glass vase/ low body 3 1/2"/ Diam., cylindrical/ neck 5 in. long/ total height 7 in./ very fine/perfect" 2nd label: "The extreme heat/of the volcanic/eruption which/covered the city/has given to this/vase a beautiful/iridescent luster/which could not be/imparted by any/process known to art." |
