Summary |
(A) The full title is: Washington as an Angler with Extracts from his diaries 1787-89. There is a note to Grover Cleveland, President of the United States at the beginning. The book documents fishing and fishing parties with George Washington. Inside the front cover, in the bottom left corner, is the number 1791 in pencil and on a diagonal. In the upper left corner is the number 477 underlined and in pencil. On the first page, handwritten in ink, is: "Samuel W. Pennypacker, Esq. with the compliments of Geo. H. Moore. Lenox Library: July 30, 1887. The cover is bright blue fabric on cardboard with the title and author's name imprinted in gold near the top. At the bottom of the cover, in gold, is 1787-1887. When the book is closed, the top edges of the pages are gold colored. (B) A newspaper clipping, from an unknown source, that is an obit and short bio. for Dr. George Henry Moore, Superintendent of the Lenox Library, New York. The clipping is inserted inside the cover of the book. |
