Summary |
The complete title of this book is: Pennsylvania at Gettysburg at the Dedication of the Monuments erected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to Major General George G. Mead, Major General Winfield S. Hancock, Major General John F. Reynolds and to Mark the Positions of the Pennsylvania Commands engaged in the Battle. The Board of Commissioners compiled these volumes and Bvt. Lt. Col. John P. Nicholson was the secretary and editor. The book contains Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, a preface, a list of Commands and rosters from Pennsylvania at Gettysburg and ceremonies of Pennsylvania Day, September 11-12, 1889. A poem by Isaac R. Pennypacker, Esq. was read that day. Also contained in this volume are ceremonies of Pennsylvania Reserve Day, September 2, 1890 and illustrations and ceremonies at the dedication of each of the Regimental Monuments. The cover has red circles designing with a gold line edging and brown leather corners and spine. The spine has five raised ridges, with the title, "Pennsylvania at Gettysburg," "Volume I" and "1904" in gold at the top, middle and bottom. In between the other ridges are golden designs. There is a bookmark attached to the top of the binding. It is 12" long and red, white and blue. The top of the pages, when the book is closed, are gold colored. |
