    Washboard is small in size with metal grate on one side and three back boards on the other. The one board has "MONARCH NO 36" printed in red. Written on the one side in pencil is "10".

    Wash Machine has a round wash tub on three removable legs with lid and hand crank on top. Inside of lid attached to the crank are four prongs. The inside and bottom of tub is grooved. In the center of tub attached by metal holders are sixteen dowels in a circle that the four prongs rotate around. Has a cork in the drain hole. Donor sheet lists patent dates of "12-4-05 and 7-27-09?   7. Washtub

    Wooden washtub with handles and wire hoops. Object is quite similar to washtubs employed in the mid nineteenth to early 20th century. The digital images have examples of some of these washtubs. Note that the illustrated washtubs all have metal supporting bands, whereas this object employs wire. Additionally, it is apparent that having the handles incorporated in two staves was common.

    Wicker Wastebasket is wicker polychrome with highly glossed finish. Basket is supported by a flat wooden base followed by alternating bands of wide and narrow wicker. Dates to the early 20th century.

  11. Wheel

    Set of 4 identical metal casters. Wheels, axles and stems are functional on all objects. All four casters have paint splatter on 1 or both of the 2 wheels. Each wheel also has four circular holes. (A) White splatter on both wheels. One wheel has paint marks on wheels rim and stem. (B) Paint mark on bottom of stem (C) Only minor splatter noted. (D) One wheel has more extensive wear on rim. White splatter noted on stem.

    Four wooden wheels in a caster. Remnants from an unknown larger artifact. Individual artifacts are barely distinguishable from each other. (A) Has one split in wood rim. (B) Has three splits in wood rim. (C) Has two small indentations. (D) Has one indentation. The stem of this object is connected to the caster stirrup in a different manner than (A-C). All four objects have surface patina consistent with age and use.

    Pie crimper. Made of bone, yellowish in color, grooved wheel, end of handle is grooved.

    Flax wheel, treadle spinning wheel for flax with tripod base. Engraved on side is "1794 MK 1862" ornate legs and spindles. Has a multi-grooved front edge.

  15. Wheelbarrow - 1900

    Wheelbarrow with the wooden body made of tongue and groove planks and at one time painted red with removable sides. End board was blue. Wooden wheel has an iron tire. Iron supports from the body to the leg and from the front of the body to the supports.

    Wheelchair with cane seat and back on a metal frame, has 4 rubber tires on spoke wheels. Front two wheels are castor. Seat has springs. Plaque on back "Edward A. Merkel, Surgical Supplies Philadelphia, PA"

  17. Wheelchair - 1915

    Wheelchair with rubber tire wheels, three wheels one on each side and a single smaller wheel in the back for turning. Wheelchair has a cane back and leg supports. Seat is replaced with a solid 1" piece of plywood. Back of wheelchair has adjustments for reclining. On upper part of back is a metal manufacturers plate which reads "BLOCH Made in U.S.A." Wheelchair was used by Governor Pennypacker in 1916. Also used by SWP II, see photo in 3-1.

    (A)Wick for kerosene stove, round with metal outside support and crimped over the wick at the bottom. Metal is full of round holes for air flow. Top edge is burned.     Wool Winder has 6 "T" shaped arms for winding wool. Has a paper clock dial with a wooden arm. Winder is on a triangular shaped base with initials "MK" carved in the front of the base. Base is on a tripod and has a multi-grooved edge like P81.675 flax wheel. On back is a paper label that has "Reel Martha Hamer wife of Isaac Knerr 1797-1862" Has a stamp on top "411".
