Title Letter to Eliza Broomall from Eliza B. Pennypacker
Dates of Creation December 27, 1884
Scope & Content (A) Letter- to "Grandma" [Eliza Broomall] from "Lida" and dated Dec. 27, 1884. Upper left corner has a plant with blue flowers and a butterfly. Letter is about Christmas. Lida is ten years old and received a trunk to put her dolls clothes in, a pair of gum leggings, a blotter and pen wiper, a silk handkerchief and some cards. Lida gave Aubrey a book. Aubrey also got a Christmas tree that Lida and Josephine trimmed and also got a Noah's Ark that Lida likes as well because they can play farm.

The letter reads:
"Phila, Dec. 27, 1884.

Dear Grandma,

I hope you had a merry Christmas. I believe I never had so many things as I got this Christmas. I am very much obliged for the trunk. We put all our doll's clothes in it and our dolls too for that matter. I got the trunk and a pair of gum leggings that button, and a nice blotter and penwiper, and a lovely silk handkerchief from Mamma, and some cards.
I hope you will come down soon because we expect to go up again with you to stay till the end of the holidays.
I wish you would make my doll a winter dress for she has nothing but a white dotted swiss and a lawn. Will you?
I gave Aubrey a little book for Christmas and he got a Christmas tree that Josie and I trimed it. It is not taken down yet and he looks at it more now than he did on Christmas day. I guess its because his presents were over in the sitting room.
Josie and I had fun the day before Christmas. We hung up our stockings in the middle of the day and put our presents in each others stockings.
Aubrey likes his Noah's Ark very much and I like it as well. I always liked Noah's Arks because they have all kinds of animals and we can play farm.
Please answer my letter and come down soon.
I hope you are well;
Your affectionate
